Abstract

It is shown that the type of filler (calcite, perlite, chalk) has little influence on the molecular weight of PVC. Gas phase modification of the chalk after ativation by acrylic gives higher degrees of grafting than the corresponding modification by suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride. Gas phase modification of chalk after activation by acrylic acid lowers the molecular weight of PVC. With modification of chalk by suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride the MWD of the polymer does not differ from the usual suspension PVC.
