Abstract
A study has been made of the influence of molecular weight on the set of short and long term mechanical properties of high density polyethylene fractions. Critical values of M v determining very marked and very slight dependences of durability of MW have been evaluated. Different methods whereby approximations of the dependence of durability on MW are obtainable have been analysed. It was found that an exponential law holds over only a limited range of variation in MW.
