Abstract
By making the photovoltaic array operate at the peak power which depends on solar and ambient temperature, the maximum power point tracking techniques can significantly improve the efficiency of photovoltaic power generation. In this paper, the mathematical model of photovoltaic cells in arbitrary environment is built with the parameters and simulated and verified on Matlab/Simulink. Then, aiming at the shortcomings of the traditional maximum power point tracking algorithm, such as slow tracking speed and low tracking accuracy, an improved algorithm is proposed, which combines conductance increment algorithm and incremental PID algorithm. In this algorithm, the conductance increment algorithm is firstly used in quickly tracking near MPP. Next, the incremental PID algorithm is used in further tracking the MPP to complete the whole tracking process. Finally, the photovoltaic system is built under Matlab/Simulink, and the algorithm is simulated and analyzed. The results show that the algorithm can track the MPP point quickly, and the oscillation is very small.
