Abstract

Silicoaluminates were synthesized from aluminum and silicon alkoxides with varying water content. The obtained solids were studied by infrared spectroscopy (IR), Thermal Differential Analysis (DTA) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). The results show a positive water effect in the rate of polymerization and in the number of Si tetrahedral functional groups (OR) substituted by the aluminum. This type of material has high surface area, suitable to act as a catalyst support.
