Abstract

Abstract The method II of Litherland and Ferguson was applied to study states in 30 Si by the 30 Si(α, α'γ) 30 Si reaction. An annular Si detector placed at 180° to the incident beam and 25 and 30 cm 3 Ge(Li) detectors were used for particle and gamma-ray detection, respectively. The results for the first two excited states agree well with previous measurements. The spin assignments 1 + and 0 + are suggested for the 3.767 and 3.786 MeV levels, respectively. The 4.808 MeV state has spin and parity 2 + , the 4.826 MeV state is most likely 2 + and the 5.948 MeV state is 4 + . Gamma-ray decay schemes for many states were obtained. No spin 3 − state was strongly excited in the present reaction, and no strong transitions from the 3 − states to the ground state were observed.
