Abstract
This paper assesses the influence of the mean and the standard deviation of the response time on Quality of Experience(QoE) for a Web service by experiments with subjects. In the experiments, the authors target actual two Web services over the Internet: map service and shopping service; they assess QoE with three scales which are based on ISO9241-11 usability. And then, the authors reveal the relationship the RTT and the QoE parameters by the linear regression analysis. Our experimental results show that QoE of the map service is affected by the standard deviation of the RTT more strongly than the mean of the RTT while QoE of the shopping service is influenced by the mean more than the standard deviation. Therefore, for the map service, QoS control which is reducing the packet loss by buffering and so on to maintain WebQoE. On the other hand, for the shopping service, QoS control which is reducing the delay is appropriate.
