Abstract

This article examines certain features of the interaction between the walls of a continuous-caster mold and the solidifying skin of a slab that is being cast. A new parameter is proposed for evaluating the deviation of the actual values of the mold oscillation function from the ideal (theoretical) values. Deviations of the actual values of the function from the ideal values are analyzed for certain hydraulic mold-oscillation mechanisms used on curvilinear-type continuous slab casters.
