Abstract

The stability of mould oscillation has an important influence on slab surface quality and operational safety in continuous casting. Abnormal performance of the critical operational parameters in mould oscillation can produce surface defects or even breakouts, thus information about mould oscillation is very important for stable operations. In the present work, measurements of mould oscillation were conducted on a slab continuous caster equipped with hydraulic oscillators. By using the combination measurement data of displacement and hydraulic force, the mould oscillator system was analysed for oscillation service such as displacement and phasing assessment, vibration and load balancing. Further, the dynamic characteristics of the mould hydraulic oscillation system are discussed based on the acceleration power spectrum with different oscillation parameters. The experimental and analytical results lay the foundations for the status monitoring of mould hydraulic oscillators.
