Abstract

E lemen t s of group VIII, in pa r t i cu la r nickel, a r e used as microa l loy ing additions to a number of c o m m e r c i a l mo[ySdenum alloys [1-4]. A smal l amount of nickel, iron, or cobalt reduces the ha rdness of molybdenum mel ted by the v a c u u m a r c [5] and e l e c t r o n b e a m [6] methods and also that of annealed molybdenum produced by powde r -m e t a l l u rgy methods [2, 7].
