Abstract

Abstract The adducts of boron trifluoride and aromatic and aliphatic sulphoxides were prepared. The formulae proposed are as follows: R2SO-BF3, where R = Bun. (1); R = Bz. (2); R = Ph, (3) The adduct corresponding to the dimethylsuiphoxide, Me2SO BF3 (4) was also obtained according to the method reported in the literature. The adducts were treated with CuCl2 2H2O to obtain the copper compounds, of formula [CuCl2 (R2SO BF3) (H2O)2], where R = Me, (5); R = Bun, (6); R = Bz, (7); R = Ph, (8). All the compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, thermal analysis and I.R. spectroscopy. The BF3 adducts were studied by 1H and 13C-NMR spectroscopy. The copper compounds were studied by electronic spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility.
