Abstract

The main objective of this study is to utilize fiber material obtained from coconut and coconut fiber ash in a M20 grade mix and the behaviour of the concrete matrix with coconut constituents are monitored upon. Basic strength tests like compressive, tensile and flexure properties were studied upon and the results were tabulated. The coconut fibers were added at 5% and the coconut fiber ash at 15% in the concrete mix. In addition to this mix, sea water replaced the conventional one in the mix and the structural characteristics were ascertained. With addition of this coconut fibers and ash component, there seems to be an optimistic increase in base strength properties of the mix and also a sound result when it comes to the structural characteristic of this building material.
