Abstract

The paper deals with the important problems of the solid solution hardening caused by alloying of the austenitic steels with nitrogen. The main attention is paid to the resistance of dislocations on the crystal lattice distortions by the alloyed atoms and by its clusters. It is shown that the solid solution hardening is proportional to the amplitude of the crystal lattice static distortion. Spectrum of energies of the atom clusters bonds with the dislocations was measured. It was established that with the increase of the nitrogen content in the alloy crystal lattice the larger clusters affected the dislocation resistance.
