Abstract
Society 5.0, which has been advocated in recent years as the future society that our country should aim for, is expected to make use of a variety of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. In addition, the use of IoT platforms, which are the foundation for integrated management and efficient coordination of various IoT devices, is also considered essential. However, integrating IoT platforms and IoT devices is not easy and requires the development of adapters that bridge platforms and devices and the provisioning of devices to platforms. In this study, we aim to propose a service that facilitates linking of heterogeneous IoT and IoT platform. The key idea is to propose IoT Mediator. IoT Mediator facilitates linking of IoT device and IoT platform by standardizing adapter development and simplifying device provisioning. We implemented the proposed IoT Mediator for the open source platform FIWARE. In the case study, we linked multiple devices to FIWARE and developed an application to make them work together.
