Abstract
In this study, the fuzzy cluster method is used for classification of rock and rock mass properties in Huozhou mine area. This method is based on using the results of rock property testing as well as in-situ ground stress measurement to assess stability of mine entries. Measured values of rock properties and field observations of 2-1121 roadway in Ganhe coal mine was analysed by using fuzzy comprehensive assessment method to assign classification. The results were subsequently compared with the extent of zone of plastic deformation which was measured by in-situ instrumentation. The analysis of data from the field measurement and assigned classification was used to verify the accuracy and relevance of the classification system. The suitable ground support selection can be linked to rock mass classification to assure stability of the mine entries. The ensuing deformation monitoring showed that the support selection was effective and successful in stabilising the ground. [Received: May 10, 2015; Accepted: November 17, 2015]
