Abstract

Well crystallized Layered Double Hydroxides, containing Mg 2+ or Ni 2+ and Al 3+ or Ga 3+ were obtained either by co-precipitation or sol-gel method. After calcination, mixed oxide structures were achieved, as shown by XRD, whose acid-base properties were investigated by CO 2 and NH 3 TPD and FT-IR spectroscopy, using mainly CH 3 CN as probe molecule. Rehydroxylation under appropriate conditions led to the reconstruction of the lamellar structure in the meixnerite like form, whose catalytic activity in the acetone condensation reaction well correlated with the acid-base properties of the corresponding mixed oxides.
