This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of depression among diabetes mellitus and hypertensive patients. Hypertension and depression are among the group of the most common chronic diseases worldwide, and according to numerous studies they are oftentimes associated. There has been a surge in lifestyle diseases in the past few years, especially diabetes mellitus and hypertension. This is due to increased urbanization, intake of more processed, packaged foods, increasingly stressful lifestyles and absence of physical activity, among others reasons[6], Genetic causes play a very important role.
