Abstract

By using a body-fitted curvilinear coordinate system, a three dimensional (3D) mathematical model is developed to investigate the hydraulic characteristics of bifurcation flows in pressure pipelines. The modified k-ϵ; turbulence model, finite volume method and collocated grid system are also adopted. The flow parameters at the control surface are obtained by the momentum interpolation method, and the SIMPLEC algorithm is used in coupling calculation of the velocity and stress field. The proposed model is applied to numerically calculate the hydraulic characteristics of 60° bifurcated pressure pipeline.
