Abstract

Monoclonal antibodies are useful not only for diagnostic applications but also for therapeutic treatments in tumors and in immunological diseases [1] [2]. Since hybridoma technology was established, a lot of studies have been done to produce monoclonal antibodies efficiently. High density culture of hybridoma cells is considered to be the most efficient way to produce monoclonal antibodies. A variety of high density culture systems have been developed [3] [4]. The medium used in high density culture was developed based on the growth kinetics of hybridoma cells in low cell density (below 3x10 cells/ml) batch cultures [5] and very little research has been done on the medium which is suitable for high density culture [6]. This paper deals with the kinetics of hybridoma cells in high density culture and the possibility of improving the productivity of hybridoma cells in a modified medium.
