Abstract
INTRODUCTION Guest Editor's Introduction: This paper was presented at the fourth congress of the Japanese Society for Therapeutic Plasmapheresis in Tokyo, Japan, on June 2, 1984. The paper was printed in Therapeutic Plasmapheresis (proceedings of the fourth congress), edited by T. Oda and published by Schattauer, Stuggart, in 1985, p. 45–49. This paper provides the first technical description of plasma fractionators for cascade filtration. EVAL (ethylenevinyl alcohol copolymer) hollow fibers of different porosities (four types) were utilized for various macromolecular separations. Two types of EVAL secondary filters are described in this article. Successful cascade filtrations were expected to be performed with these filters.
