Abstract

In this paper, thin films are considered within the framework of the Ising model with a depolarizing field. In the existing works, the depolarizing field is considered to be proportional to the polarization, but it is not suitable for polydomain films. According to our approach, the depolarizing field energy is calculated as the difference between the energy of dipole-dipole interactions in a bulk sample and a thin film. Stripe domains with neutral and charged walls can appear in the considered model. We also studied domain structures arising in films of different thicknesses with increasing temperature and depolarizing field value.
