Abstract

A new mathematical model of electric field (E) radiation by high voltage conductors of electrical power transmission line, expressed as Helmholtz equation, developed in terms of Voltage (V) is proposed in this paper. The work has taken into account the impact of conductor phase-sequence orientation, instantaneous voltage and insulated metallic object close to the transmission tower on electric fields distribution around a double circuit, vertical high-voltage transmission lines. An efficient finite element based simulation is done in time harmonic mode in COMSOL software. It can create selective meshing for different domain in very less computational time. Electric fields generated in close proximity of High Voltage (HV) power transmission line are studied with pictorial and graphical representation. Possible harmful effect of low frequency electric field on electrical and electronics instruments has been mentioned. The resulting field is compared with standard guidelines of the International Commission on Non Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) field for hazard analysis. The presented results in this paper demonstrate the effectiveness of using Finite Element Method (FEM) in electromagnetic fields calculation at many levels near power transmission lines with various parameters.
