Abstract

The deformation texture of CP-Ti processed at 450 °C in a 90°-die by ECAE was studied using X-ray pole figure measurement and by calculating the complete pole figure and the orientation distribution function (ODF) through commercial software LaboTex. The principal component of ECAE texture was a strong (0002) texture, the basal plane aligning nearly parallel to the grain-elongated-plane, and was believed to be formed by the deformation operated by the basal slip mechanism and by the inhomogeneous rotation occurring during the shear process. Because of a cooperative rotation of initially fiber textured grains, this ECAE texture actually appeared as a fiber texture about an axis lying on the basal plane.
