Abstract
The results of studies on the effect of single- and multi-layer coatings based on niobium nitride on their cyclic crack resistance and efficiency of carbide cutting tools are presented. It is shown that the use of these coatings can significantly increase the operating time of the cutting tool before their destruction due to cracking. At the same time, the greatest effect is achieved when using multilayer coatings with a lower heat-protective layer of niobium nitride.
