Abstract

A novel dual band-notched ultra-wideband (UWB) slot antenna is presented and investigated in this paper. By inserting L-shaped branches into the ground plane and inserting a circular arc slot on the circular patch, two notched band, 3.3–3.6 GHz for WiMAX and 5.15–5.825 GHz for WLAN, are achieved respectively. The antenna is successfully simulated and measured, showing that dual-band notched characteristic can be obtained by using two different structures. The antenna satisfies the VSWR requirement of less than 2.0 in the frequency band between 2.27 and 12 GHz, except two frequency stopbands of 3.2–4.01 GHz and 5.55–6.1 GHz. Transfer functions of the antenna systems are given experimentally, and the parametric studies are performed numerically in this article.
