Abstract

A novel printed ultra wideband (UWB) slot antenna with dual band-notch characteristics is presented in this paper. The presented antenna consists of a V-shaped radiating patch with a microstrip feeding line and an arched curved ground plane with rectangular slot to improve the impedance bandwidth. The band-notch is achieved by introducing two meander-line slots on heart-shaped radiation element. Dual notches are achieved at bands of 3.32–3.85 GHz WiMAX and 5.08–6.1 GHz WLAN. Measured results are in good agreement with simulations, which shows that the antenna has a wide impedance bandwidth of 9.85 GHz starting 2.15 to 12 GHz for a return loss of better than −10 dB and good frequency band-notch function. Furthermore, the proposed antenna has relatively omnidirectional radiation patterns in passbands. This antenna can be used for ultra wideband (UWB) applications.
