Abstract

In this work the study of the possibility of potential electrostatic hazards is exposed in the case of a composite container for storage of propane gas with integrated barrier film made of insulating material intended to make the container impermeable. Charging/discharge tests were performed to evaluate the possible occurrence of brush discharges that can act as an ignition source for flammable propane/air mixture. The barrier film reduced the efficiency of surface charge dissipation but the values obtained are within published safety threshold values found in the literature.
