Studies on the tribe Meconematini (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae: Meconematinae) from China

Abstract

This paper deals with 9 genera, 11 subgenera and 31 species of tettigoniids of the tribe Meconematini, mainly from South China. Three genera and 10 species are described as new and 4 subgenera are redescribed. The new taxa described are Teratura (Teratura) pulchella, sp. nov., T. (T.) paracincta, sp. nov., Teratura (Stenoteratura) subtilis, sp. nov., Sinoxozicus breviatus, gen et sp. nov., Paraxizicus brevicercus, gen. et sp. nov., Xizicus (Eoxizicus) hainani, sp. nov., X. (E.) abnormalis, sp. nov., X. (Axizicus) lineosus, sp. nov., Abaxinicephora excellens, gen. et sp. nov., and Decma (Decma) tristis, sp. nov. New redescriptions of the subgenera Megaconema Gorochov, Xizicus Gorochov, Eoxizicus Gorochov, and Axizicus Gorochov are presented. The important diagnostic characters of male genitalia are provided. The subgenus Megaconema is transferred from Xiphidiola Bolfvar to Teratura Redtenbacher. The status of the subgenus Eoxizicus and the genus Axizicus are discussed. The genital complex and other diagnostic characters are illustrated.
