Abstract

1.1. The lipid class and fatty acid chain length composition of the colonial rotifier Sinantherina semibullata have been investigated by thin-layer and gas-lipid chromatography.2.2. Major lipid classs were free sterol and phospholipid (polar lipid) while minor lipid classes were free fatty acid, triglyceride and sterol ester. Diglycerides were present.3.3. Fatty acid chain lengths from less than 14 carbons through at least 28 carbons were found.4.4. The lipid constitution of this rotifier is compared to that of selected helminths, plankters and protists.
