Abstract

Pristine and terbium ion-doped lanthanum tungstate nanoparticles were synthesized by the chemical precipitation method. In the present work, the effect of Tb doping on the structural and optical properties of lanthanum tungstate nanoparticles is studied. The structure and surface morphology of the prepared samples were analysed using the X-ray diffraction technique and scanning electron microscopy technique. Both the samples exhibit monoclinic scheelite structure. The optical properties of the samples were studied using UV–Visible absorption spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy. By Tb ion doping, the optical bandgap value reduces and the colour of emission of the sample changes from blue to green region.
