Abstract
In this study satisfactory conditions for depithing Sudanese bagasse were established. The Sudanese bagasse was pulped by the prehydrolysis-soda process followed by multistage bleaching. The results obtained were compared with those of our previous investigations on Brazilian and Egyptian bagasses. The results indicated that some pulps obtained from Brazilian, Egyptian and Sudanese bagasses were suitable for viscose but Egyptian pulps had the advantages of higher yield, higher α-cellulose and lower ash content than the other pulps.
