Abstract
The sulfonated polystyrene-collodion membrane is used to study the binding of calcium to bovine serum albumin in solutions of CaCl 2. A maximum of eight calcium ions is bound per albumin molecule at pH 7.4; increasing pH favors increased binding and vice versa. The binding of chloride is the same as in the presence of NaCl.
