Abstract

Time required in the laboratory for field collected Busseola fusca Fuller larvae to complete diapause development and to pupate decreased as the dry season progressed. Low relative humidity, darkness and the absence of food retarded diapause development as compared to (he opposing factors. However, the completion of diapause development and pupation did not occur solely because a particular threshold of any of the factors was exceeded, but rather, because of the cumulative effects of time and anyone of, or all the factors tested.
