Abstract

Abstract Products obtained by partial degradation of yeast phenylalanine transfer RNA with pancreatic ribonuclease have been characterized. Under limiting conditions of digestion, the transfer RNA was preferentially cleaved only at two points in the chain. The susceptibility of a certain region of the molecule to cleavage by pancreatic ribonuclease indicates that the trinucleotide sequence 2'-O-methylguanylyladenylyladenylyl (-2'OMeG-A-A-) represents the anticodon in yeast phenylalanine transfer RNA.
