Abstract

1. 1. From a Bacillus subtilis culture filtrate a concentrate was prepared which appeared to be homogeneous on paper strip chromatograms using water-saturated butanol as the mobile phase. 2. 2. This concentrate was resolved into two major fractions by employing different solvent systems on paper strip chromatograms; preparations of these fractions were made by use of partition column chromatography. 3. 3. Bioautographic studies established the nonidentity of our natural form in a purified B. subtilis concentrate with Pantethine.
