Abstract
Abstract As the first step in the investigation of tin and technetium complexes of 2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), the thermodynamic values of the DMSA ligand—dissociation constants, free energy, enthalpy and entropy have been determined. Dissociation constants have been determined by potentiometric titration. The following logarithmic values for the four thermodynamic constants were obtained: 2.5 ± 0.07, 3.9 ± 0.08, 10.1 ± 0.1 and 11.4 ± 0.1 at 293 K; 2.5 ± 0.05, 3.9 ± 0.06, 9.7 ± 0.07 and 10.8 ± 0.1 at 303 K; and 2.5 ± 0.05, 3.8 ± 0.04, 9.7 ± 0.09 and 10.7 ± 0.1 at 310 K. At 303 K the following thermodynamic parameters of the dissociation were calculated: changes in free energy, in free entropy and in free enthalpy.
