Abstract

SummaryCarrot cavity spot was reduced by up to 60% by growing the carrots on narrow ridges rather than on wide flat beds. All other tested factors: several preceding crops; spraying complete nutrient solutions; mineral content of the carrot roots and foliage (N, P, K, Ca, Mg and Na); and several soil parameters showed no direct association with the incidence of carrot cavity spot.
