Abstract

Positive education as a new pedagogical approach focuses on the development of students’ personalities, encouraging their emotional and social development and building positive interpersonal relationships. Therefore, it aims to create a stimulating environment for students where, in addition to acquiring academic skills, they would develop their character, emotional intelligence and essential life skills. The paper focuses on the PERMA model, which can be connected with positive education, since positive education tends to promote emotional and psychological state of students. The goal of the research was to investigate attitudes of the University of Eastern Sarajevo students (513) towards positive education, through various factors that contribute to their feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment. The obtained results indicate a positive attitude of the students towards the PERMA model in education. The students believe that promoting positive emotions can increase their motivation and engagement in the learning process. Active learning methods, discussions and projects can help them achieve this goal. Students’ interaction with both other students and teachers has an important role in their education and socio-emotional development.
