Abstract

Abstract This study involving 338 first through fifth graders included remedial reading students as well as their classroom peers. A survey was administered to the students to determine their attitude toward the remedial reading program and the remedial reading students. The results indicated remedial reading students have a positive view of their ability to read and enjoy participating in the remedial program. Their classroom peers do not have negative feelings toward the remedial reading students. The majority of students not in the remedial program expressed a desire to participate in the program in the future. A brief description of several activities which are a part of the remedial program and the survey used in the study are also included.
