Abstract

This study aims to reveal the mindset of students. The disclosure of mindset will be studied through students' background, academic self-concept, and non-academic self-concept. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data sources from students' teachers and parents at SMP N 1 Kawangkoan. The results showed that a positive non-academic self-concept was able to make students able to process their emotions, have many friends and become honest individuals. On the other hand, a negative non-academic self-concept will make it difficult for students to interact with their social environment and process wrong emotions it leading to actions that are not normal. Students who have a positive self-concept can be categorized as a growth mindset and a negative self-concept can be categorized as a fixed mindset. Students with a growth mindset are students who have an unyielding attitude. He will face all the challenges that are in front of him. Meanwhile, students with a fixed mindset are students who easily give up. He will consider a challenge as an obstacle so that the feeling of stopping fighting arises.
