Abstract

Characteristics of nonlinear gauge-invariant singularity-free field theories of elementary particles are discussed. It is shown that the electromagnetic field, in conjunction with a scalar field which is required for gauge invariance, provides a potential mechanism for the creation of the spin and magnetic moment of the particle, in addition to its mass and charge.
