Abstract

Structure health monitoring is a necessary step for regular monitoring of a structure. This helps to prevent any casualty in the structure and adopt necessary preventive methods before the collapse. Non-destructive Testing (NDT) has been used to evaluate the characteristics of the structure and plays a good role in the inspection and monitoring of the existing buildings. This paper describes the NDT testing on the residential reinforced cement concrete (RCC) structure located at Vikaspuri, New Delhi. The RCC structure having G + 3 Floor and building was constructed at 1995. Ultrasonic pulse velocity, rebound hammer, and rebar locator test was used on this building to identify the quality and strength of the concrete structure. The structural drawing was not found of this structure so conducted the Rebar locator test to examine the diameter of reinforcement and cover between reinforcement and the concrete surface. Test results showed that the quality of the concrete was poor and the strength of the concrete in between 12 and 15 MPa was observed in the column. This study revealed that retrofitting should be providing for the column and beam structure to enhance the strength of the structure.
