Abstract
A process for reducing the structure-borne noise in a passenger car with a power-based Transfer Path Analysis (TPA) methodology is described in this paper. First, the power flow of each transfer path is estimated on the base of Thevenin equivalent theorem. Next, the dominant paths and their key factors are identified through the contribution of each path and the equations of power flow calculation. Finally, these key factors are improved to guide the structural modification for controlling the power flow. Several measures can be attempted and yield reductions of the structure-borne sound pressure levels at the major peaks.
