Abstract
The structure, wear resistance, and mechanical properties upon bending of nitrogen dispersion-hardened austenitic coatings obtained by electron-beam surfacing have been investigated. A parametric analysis of the dependence of the wear resistance of nitrogen coatings and coefficient of friction on the mass fraction of filler (nitrided ferrovanadium) has been conducted. An analysis of the experimental data indicates that the wear resistance of coatings dispersion-hardened by V(C, N) particles of different sizes is higher than the wear resistance of nitrogen coatings obtained by surfacing (via melting) a 60Kh24AG16 steel powder without filler and is considerably higher than the wear resistance of the steel 110G13. The difference in wear resistance grows with increasing loads upon tests. Nitrogen coatings are characterized by low coefficients of friction, high strength properties and adhesion, and satisfactory plasticity.
