Abstract

Abstract Properties of domain walls moving under the influence of driving and damping are reviewed for a variety of specific cases. It is important to distinguish between two types of dynamics, lattice dynamics describing atomic displacement fields in crystals, and spin dynamics describing magnetization fields in ferromagnets, which give rise to significant differences in behaviour. We discuss structure and stability of domain walls in lattice-dynamical systems described by single-component and two-component order- parameter fields, and in biaxial ferromagnets.
