Abstract
Hydrodynamic, optical and electrooptical properties of rigid-chain polymer molecules in dilute solutions have been considered. The distinguishing features of the behaviour of rigid-chain polymers in solutions are compared with those of flexible-chain polymers. Special attention is paid to the method of flow birefringence (FB) as one of the most effective methods for investigating the conformational and optical characteristics of rigid-chain macromolecules.
