Abstract
The anisotropy of electrical conductivity and mobility have been measured in nematic p-n-pentyl-p′-cyanobiphenyl (PCB) and nematic and smectic p-n-octoxy-p′-cyanobiphenyl (OxCB). There is rapid mobility change in vicinity of nematic-smectic transition. The results are compared with the current theories of the ionic flow in liquids.
