Abstract

Thanks to the optimal combination of the physicomechanical and chemical properties of ceramics based on aluminum nitride, in particular their strength, scaling resistance, chemical passivity, these materials find ever broader applications as a structural material for friction pairs operating in aggressive media at elevated temperatures. The authors investigated the processes of structurization, high-temperature friction and wear, and also the strength properties of ceramic materials belonging to the system AlN-MoSi{sub 2}.
