Abstract
A new three-pole AC radial hybrid magnetic bearing (RHMB) is proposed. It has three characteristics of the levitation windings installed in the axial space, the permanent magnet mounted on the rotor and each stator core isolated by nonmagnetic materials. The structure and working principle are firstly introduced. Next, the force-current relationship is derived. According to the design requirement, the electromagnetic parameters are designed. Finally, the magnetic circuits, force-current curves and force coupling performance are calculated and analyzed. Furthermore, the maximum levitation forces are measured. The results show that the structure, magnetic circuit and working principle are correct, and the force-current relationship is further verified.
