Abstract

Technological developments in the telecommunication sector keep continue to experience rapid development and the increasing need for people to use cellular service providers. As a result of the increasing need for telecommunication service, tower and Base Transceiver Station (BTS) are increasingly having a relatively close distance, the problem of land for tower construction is one of the constraining factors, so that the construction of a tower on top of the building (rooftop) is one of the solutions. The construction of a tower above the building (rooftop) requires a certain height in order to cover the specified distance. Due to the addition of the level of a building, so it is necessary to evaluate the structure of the existing building in order to know the capability of the structure of the building. This research aims to examine whether the existing building is able to withstand the addition of a 1 level portal and telecommunication tower, to find out the required area of reinforcement installed in the existing columns and beams are qualify or not after the addition of a 1 level portal and telecommunication tower In the analysis process using the computer program ETABS V 9.7.4. The results obtained are that the existing building structure is not strong enough to receive additional loads due to capacity ratio of column more than 1 and the lack of shear capacity, the area of reinforcement required for existing columns and beams still meet the requirements. Strengthening using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP).
