Abstract
Chromium doped M-type hexaferrites having composition Ba1−xCrxFe12O19 at x = (0.0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4,0.5) were fabricated by sol-gel auto combustion technique. XRD technique was performed to confirm the phase formation. Morphology of the prepared samples was analyzed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and it indicated the hexagonal platelet structure. Lattice parameters, crystallite size and cell volume were found to decrease with the increase of doping (Cr3+) concentration. Saturation magnetization and magneto crystalline anisotropy has been investigated through law of approach to the saturation magnetization. Saturation magnetization first increases and reaches to maximum at x = 0.3 for Cr3+ substituted Barium hexaferrite. Dielectric constant, dielectric loss tangent loss, ac conductivity and Q values of the prepared samples were also discussed. Dielectric constant increases gradually with increasing dopant (Cr3+) concentration. These parameters were found to be appropriate for high frequency applications such as modulators, phase shifter and also in magnetic recording media.
